Complaint Detail / Problem
Complaint Type:
Customer Service Issues
Problem:
for 20 years i have had a 10,000 line of credit with this bank. i do business with them in person at 4355 E. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46201 because i cannot access their online system. my wallet with credit card and id was stolen or lost. they told me to pay $165, wait two days, then come back and they would issue a new card. that left me with $1.75 in my pocket. when i came back in two days, they told me they had closed my account two weeks ago but not told me, because i had missed 3 payments. thier website says they uphold the highest ethical standards. i asked to be put in touch with the ethics department or company ethicist. they refused. i might have a legal claim, an ada complaint about the website inaccessability, but i would rather address it as an ethics question; i am seeking fair dealing. as a consumer, i cannot tell if their calims about ethics are just meaningless puffery, or a factual claim about how they do business. i do not feel i am being treated fairly. the customer service manager and the local branch manager are being rule followers with no attempt to problem solve. they have a 1 star of 5 rating in bbb. they are the bank that bought that the bank that bought my bank, so i no longer have a local contact with any interest in resolving problems. i am currently surviving on a personal loan from my elderly mother while i restructure some business arrangements to free up cash caused by the sudden cash crunch of having my credit reserve yanked out from under me. this has embarresed me to my who;e family. if at any point in the 90 days they had asked for a payment while i was at the bank transacting my usual business, i would have paid it. it has cost me over $1000 to not be able to access th line of credit i had carefully maintained for just such emergncies as i was in at the time. i am frustrated and hurt, but i want to try to repair what is currently a broken relationship with this bank.

Desired Resolution / Outcome
Desired Resolution:
Other (requires explanation)
Desired Outcome:
seeking to restore account, seeking to have credit report corrected, at least seeking some dialog with ethics department if there is one, and if not, they should stop claiming to use the highest ethical standards, as that would be false advertizing i relied on.
